Your Visit to Radiant

Information to help you understand referrals, prepare for your appointment, and know what to expect.

Do I need a referral?

Diagnostic imaging is performed based on referral requirements and clinical appropriateness. A referral from your physician, nurse practitioner, or other authorized referring provider is generally required before an MRI can be scheduled.

If you are unsure whether imaging is right for you, please speak with your healthcare provider. They can determine whether a scan is indicated and submit a referral on your behalf.

How are appointments scheduled?

Once we receive a referral, our team will contact you to arrange an appointment. Imaging is scheduled based on clinical appropriateness and availability.

Preparing for your MRI

Preparation depends on the type of scan ordered. Specific instructions will be provided to you before your appointment.

Because an MRI uses a strong magnetic field, please tell us in advance if you have a pacemaker, implanted device, metal implant, or any other metal in your body, or if you may be pregnant.

  • Wear comfortable clothing without metal fasteners where possible
  • Leave jewellery and metal objects at home or be prepared to remove them
  • Tell our team about any implants, devices, or prior surgeries
  • Follow any specific preparation instructions provided for your scan

What to bring

Please bring your health card or identification, your referral information if you have a copy, and a list of any relevant medical history, prior imaging, or implanted devices.

How are results shared?

Your images are interpreted by a Royal College certified radiologist, and a report is sent to your referring provider. Your provider will review the results with you and discuss any next steps.
